The current guidelines will highlight the special considerations and practices required to optimize the outcomes for adults with severe and profound hearing loss and their communication partners. These management practices are sometimes insufficient to address the special needs of adults with severe and profound hearing loss. These guidelines recognize that audiological management of mild-to-moderate hearing loss is widely understood. These guidelines are intended to inform the practice of hearing care professionals who are directly involved in the audiological management of adults with a severe and profound degree of hearing loss.
